With COVID-19 dominating the news these days, it is not hard to become confused and overwhelmed with excessive media and health claims every which way you look. It seems that daily there are new discoveries of COVID strains and certain precautions people should be taking for their health and safety. However, one thing is for certain and that is the function and protection of face masks. While the CDC is constantly updating and revising its suggestions on where or when people should be wearing masks, it is safe to say that masks have become a new norm within our society.
With Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s recent announcement to move the city of Chicago into Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois plan this coming Friday, 6/26, higher foot traffic in urban areas is guaranteed. This increased mobility will be accompanied by increased safety measures. Movie theaters, gyms, restaurants and some beaches are beginning to open up again around the country and will likely become popular destinations. Unsurprisingly, face masks will be required at most of these venues. Wearing a mask demonstrates a desire to keep people, especially those with underlying health conditions, safe and protected. Stay safe and help protect those around you!
